    Stop At: Saghmosavank Monastery, Artashavan 0211 Armenia

    The Saghmosavank is a 13th-century Armenian monastic complex located in the village of Saghmosavan in the Aragatsotn Province of Armenia. Like the Hovhannavank monastery which is five kilometers south, Saghmosavank is situated atop the precipitous gorge carved by the Kasagh river. Their silhouettes dominate the adjacent villages and rise sharp against the background of the mountains crowned by Mount Aragats.

    Stop At: Hovhannavank Monastery, Ohanavan Armenia

    Hovhannavank monastery (5th-14th cc.) is a wonderful example of Armenian Apostolic Church architecture, perched atop the Kasakh River in the village of Ohanavan. The oldest section of the monastery was built in the 4th century by the first Armenian Catholicos, Grigor Lusavorich. The centerpiece of the monastery is the cruciform domed Church of Karapet built between 1216 and 1221 through the donation of Prince Vache Vachutian.

    Stop At: Saint Gevorg Church, 2 Km From The City, Mughni Armenia

    St. Gevorg or better known Mughni church is located on the southern edge of the Mughni village in the Aragatsotn region of Armenia. The fate of the foundation of the church is not distinct. But according to 17th-century historian Zakaria Sarkavag, the monastery was founded by the members of Hovhannavank.The remains of Saint George were moved here. Probably it was at the end of the 13th century because already in 1278 were copied the manuscripts in the Mughni's church. The other part of the remains were moved to Georgia for the cure of the Georgian prince

    The monument was built in 2005 on the 1600th anniversary of the creation of the Armenian alphabet.The monument includes ornaments of 39 letters of the Armenian alphabet and monuments of the great Armenians.
